David A. Doyle

As conference attorney and appellate mediator, David A. Doyle, mediates a broad range of civil and administrative cases eligible for mediation, as well as selected workers' compensation original actions. Mediations are conducted in selected cases shortly after the notice of appeal is filed and prior to the filing of briefs. Prehearing mediation conferences are conducted at the court and by telephone. Initial participation is mandatory. The primary purposes of the prehearing mediation are to address procedural questions; identify and discuss the anticipated issues and assignments of error to be raised on appeal; and to explore resolution in the confidential context of mediation. Clients are to be either present or available by telephone. Since its inception in 1989, over 4,000 prehearing mediation conferences have been conducted, with a dismissal rate of approximately fifty-five percent.
